Step Up to the Plate:
Facing the Changes in the Field of ELT
While the methodologies for teaching other disciplines have to an extent, remained unchanged, the English language teaching field has gone through tremendous changes, especially through the twentieth century. There has been a lot of research conducted in the field to try to find the appropriate approach for teaching English. In a relatively short period of time we have gone from the Designed Methods, to the Communicative lenguage teaching and more recently the Lexical Approach. All of these are a good example of how the search for the ideal methodology has taken the best from all the methodologies. In an attempt find an alternative to methods rather than another method, we are in a time called the Post-method era of language teaching. In this era teachers are expected to be more effective and reflective in their teaching practice, which brings up the following questions, are we ready for this era? What are we doing to become more effective and reflective teachers? Is our teaching really serving the students' needs?

This year, we invite you to come and share what your experience has been, and see how other professionals in the field have step up to the plate and become more effective and reflective teachers. Are you ready to step up to the plate?
